Since 1961 Oscar Robertson has held the record for most Triple-Doubles at 41 and its a record most seemed untouchable. That was until Russell Westbrook broke that record last night with his 42nd Triple Double surpassing a record that has stood pat for nearly 56 years. He clinched it 50 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Not only did Westbrook score the final 15 points for Oklahoma City including the game winner. But it is how he did he hit the game-winner well beyond the 3-point line at nearly 40 feet out with less than 3 seconds left on the clock. Oklahoma City won 106-105.
With the departure of Kevin Durant in the Off-Season many were questioning Westbrook desire to stay with the team and his desire to win. I think he cleared that up in one clear swoop. He is clearly the MVP of the league as well.
